Sequin Denim Two-Piece Set

Sequins on denim should not work as well as they do here. The base is a structured denim with very little stretch, which is what keeps the sequin surface flat and even instead of rippling, and the two pieces are cut to be worn together: a tube top above, a fitted skirt below. The light catches across both at once when you move. The denim reads as denim first, which stops the sequins from tipping the set into costume.

The tube top is shaped close through the upper body and stays where it is put, so the line between the two pieces reads as one silhouette rather than two separate garments. The skirt follows the hip and holds its form through a long evening. Both pieces are fully lined, which is the detail that makes a sequinned set actually wearable against the skin. The lining also gives the skirt a smoother line over the hip than raw denim would.

Worn together it is a night out, a concert, a birthday dinner. Split it and the skirt goes with a plain knit, the top with tailored trousers. It is offered in blue in sizes S, M and L, and because the denim has minimal give, the fit is close, so take the larger size if you are between two. Dry clean only keeps the sequins intact.
