Cropped Ribbed Cardigan with Frill Trim

A fine ribbed cardigan with a frill following every edge: around the round neckline, down the length of the button placket, at both cuffs and along the hem. The ruffle is small and closely gathered rather than showy, so it softens a plain knit without turning it into an occasion piece.

The rib itself is fine and elastic, which is why the shape holds so close to the body. It buttons all the way up to the neckline, and the cropped body stops at the waist, so it sits neatly over a high-waisted skirt or trousers and finishes exactly where a waistband begins. It is unlined, which keeps it light enough to wear indoors all day.
