Brushed Knit Deep V-Neck Button Cardigan

Not every knit needs an idea behind it. This one is the plain layer you reach for without thinking, and Alverra built it accordingly: a soft brushed knit with a napped surface that feels warmer than its weight suggests, buttoning straight down the front in a single uncomplicated line with no pockets or trims to work around.

The V is cut deep, which opens the chest and leaves room for a shirt collar, a chain or a plain tee underneath without crowding. The body is boxy and the shoulder drops low, so the sleeve hangs loose rather than fitted through the arm. Ribbed cuffs and a ribbed hem settle the shape at both ends and stop the brushed knit from going soft at the edges.

Sizes run S to 2XL in a loose fit, true to size and cut boxy through the body; our model is 5'7" and wears the size S. It sits at the hip, so it works over almost anything already on, buttoned up as a jumper on a cold morning or left open as a light autumn layer. Hand wash cold or dry clean, and dry it flat. The brushed surface holds up better if you keep it clear of rough bag straps and coat linings.
