Ribbed Corduroy Cropped Jacket with Drawcord Waist

Ribbed corduroy gives this cropped jacket both its texture and enough body to hold a structured shoulder. The wide collar folds open away from the neck, the zip front sits under a covered placket, and gold-toned buttons finish the shoulder tabs and the tabs at each cuff. The cord is a fine, close rib rather than a wide wale, which keeps the surface neat and stops the jacket reading as workwear.

The drawcord at the waist is the part that changes it. Pull it in and tie it at the front and the jacket flares slightly below the waist into a soft peplum; leave it loose and it hangs straight and boxy over whatever is underneath. Either way it stops at the waist, which keeps the leg line long over jeans, leggings or a fitted skirt. The covered placket hides the zip completely, so the front stays a clean line of fabric rather than hardware.
