Longline Shawl Collar Cardigan with Button Cuffs

A shawl collar is what separates this from every other open cardigan. The ribbed collar runs unbroken from one side of the neck down the full length of the front placket, so the edges stay weighted and lie flat against the body instead of curling back on themselves the way a plain knit edge does after a few wears.

There is no button or tie at the front, which leaves the cardigan to hang in a soft drape and lets you wear it open over anything already in the wardrobe. The interest sits at the wrists instead: each ribbed cuff carries four metal buttons in a row, a tailored detail on a knit that otherwise stays quiet. The hem is cut on a curve rather than straight across, so the front panels fall slightly longer than the sides, and the whole piece is unlined for weight you can keep on at a desk.
