The knit is fine rather than chunky, so it sits close to the body without adding bulk under a coat or over a shirt. A V neckline keeps the collarbone open, and the button placket runs the full length of the front, which means you can fasten it up and wear it as a top or leave it hanging loose over whatever is underneath.

Deep ribbing at the cuffs and hem does the structural work here. It stops a fine knit from stretching out of shape through the day and gives the silhouette a defined edge where it lands at the hip.
