Lace-Up Corset Sweetheart Mini Dress

The bodice is the whole argument for this mini. Gathered underwired cups sit beneath a sweetheart neckline and give enough structure that no bra is needed, while rows of fine pin tucks run down from the bust and pull the waist in gradually rather than all at once. It is corsetry built into the pattern instead of stiffened on afterwards. The result holds its shape through an evening without needing to be tugged back into place.

At the back, a lace-up panel lets you set the fit yourself, which is useful across a long evening and useful again between one size and the next. The lining is edged in a narrow lace that shows at the hem, a small finish that reads as considered when the dress moves. The seams are finished cleanly inside so nothing catches against the skin. Length is around 80cm, or 31.5 inches, on our 1.73m model in a size XS.

White, red and dark blue each take the design somewhere different: white for garden parties and photographs, red for a night out, dark blue when you want the shape without the announcement. Wear it with strappy heels and bare legs, or flat sandals and a woven bag for daytime. Sizes XS to XL, with the back lacing giving useful room either way.
