Crochet Tie Front Cardigan with Scalloped Hem

Alverra made this cardigan for the trip where one layer has to cover every cooler hour. The knit is an open crochet worked in an allover floral openwork, so air moves through the fabric while it still covers the shoulders. A V neckline drops into a self-tie fastening at the bust, and that tie is the only closure the piece has.

Pull the ties in for a defined shape at the waist, or leave them loose and let the front hang open over a swimsuit or a slip dress. The sleeves are wide and finish at the wrist with enough room to push up when the sun comes back. Scalloped edging runs along both the hem and the cuffs, which keeps the openwork from stopping at a blunt line. The body is short and sits at the hip, so it clears a high waistband instead of bunching over it. There is no lining and the crochet is semi-sheer by design.

The fit is relaxed with an easy drape and runs true to size from S to 2XL. Our model is 5'7" and wears size S. Choose from White, Black, Apricot, Burgundy, Pink and Red. Machine wash cold or have it professionally dry cleaned to protect the openwork.
