Two antique brass buckle straps sit on this boot, one at the top edge of the shaft and one at the ankle, against a smooth upper carrying no other decoration. The shaft is structured, so it holds its shape standing in the hallway and holds it on the leg without gripping the calf. The toe comes to a soft point rather than a sharp one. Both straps are decorative and stay buckled where you set them.
A full-length inside zip runs the shaft, which is what makes a riding boot of this height practical day to day: the buckles stay set where you like them and the zip does all the work. The stacked block heel measures 1.96 inches, low enough to keep you level through a long day and high enough to lift the sole clear of wet ground. Set the zip once to the height you want and the boot behaves the same way every time you put it on.
Three colourways are offered, black, dark brown and brown, with the brass hardware reading warmest against the two browns and sharpest against the black. Sizes run US 5.5 to 12 and fit true to size, and the model wears a US 7. Wipe the upper clean with a damp cloth and let the boots air dry away from a radiator.
